riplock on this mac?

just curious, do you know if this late 2009 model MB952LL/A imac has the drive disabling riplock on it?

Even within the same model of computer, Apple may use different optical drives with the same specs. It's my understanding that nearly all optical drives made these days have the riplock "feature." Fortunately, you can update the firmware for most drives to disable riplock.

thanks for the reply. where is this update downloaded from? how do i look for the one for my imac?

Not all drives can even be unlocked these days; most of them cannot.
You'd need to find out what drive is in your machine then go looking from there.
