Risk-like game?

Is there a Windows or Mac game that is like a game of Risk with the map of the real world, only economy, alliances, politics, treaties, etc. are taken into account?

Doesn't have to be new. Can be 20 years old for all I care.

The closest you'd get is the Europa Universalis or Hearts of Iron series.

Europa Univeralis 3 has all of that, however, the learning curve is very steep. The game was too hard for me to enjoy it but you might not find it as challenging.

It isn't exactly what you are looking for, but iConquer would be worth a look. It's simple; maybe too simple for what you want. You can give the computer players characteristics, but other than that, they try to destroy you and and you them. Supports custom maps.

Risk is available for iOS devices. Have a look on the App store it may have been released for Mac.

You might like Carcassonne for iOS. It has multiplayer once you have learned the basics.
