Hi
I just baught a new 3GS. I did the jailbreaking and then unlocking just to check if it works and it works great.. (thanks to the dev team)

Now i want to get rid of the unlock iphone and make it relocked to O2 UK.As we are expecting 3.1 firmware very soon..

I am just worried about getting my phone bricked.. The question i need to ask is if i do a simple restore would it make my phone relocked??

Has anyone tried it?? i dont want to screw 550 GBP...

Please advice

thanks for quick reply jmann... this is my first iphone and i dont want to screw it... Have you tried it or seem it in real??

The thing is if there is any issue then ill live with the unlock version and do the restor process when hack of 3.1 is out.

I have unlocked and restored every kind of iPhone OS device since 1.1.1, and have never had a "bricked" or ruined phone once. You will be just fine. Restoring to 3.0.1 is going to be no different than restoring to the soon-to-be released 3.1.

I just want to make sure you know when you restore to 3.0.1, you'll lose your jailbreak. You said in your original post that all you wanted was to get rid of the unlock. So after you restore to 3.0.1, you'll have to re-jailbreak it. I just wanted to make sure you knew that :D.

Just do a plain restore in iTunes. It will be fine. If you want to erase all traces of a jailbreak then you should put it into DFU mode first and then do the restore. :)

And set it up as a new iPhone after you've done the DFU-mode restore..

Thanks guys,

So let me put wotever i understood

I can restore my new 3Gs phone back to what it was ( re- locked to O2) after i do the restore from itunes. Regerding DFU restore ( do i really need it??) if yes then when am i suppose to do this restore( before or after itune restore).

Yes i understand after restoring my phone will again be good as new and i have to re jailbreak it for using the wonderfull apps and unlocking...

is that it??
