This thing looks like a 1980's Brick Cell Phone, its just down right ugly.

Yet they gave it a 3.5 out of 5. Hahaha, sounds like crap to me!Cons: Lousy video-streaming capabilities. It's a pain to set up. Hard drive is not included. Manual needs a serious update.

Exactly my point. That review is ludicrous. I can't believe someone is selling that piece.Well I wouldn't exactly says its a rival of the Apple TV it doesn't have a hard drive, or 802.11n.

The only real competition for the AppleTV is the Xbox360.
So, even though the setup process can be tricky, it's a relief to find that the MG-350HD from MediaGate actually works pretty well. If you're willing to get your hands dirty and install a hard drive (not included), the payoff is big, but make no mistake: This gadget isn't for the iTunes crowd.
well, these things have been around for quite a while, long before the apple tv was even announced of varying quality, thats one of the bad ones
and the appletv only scored 2 out of 5 in a british mac magazine, admitedly mostly because besides music we have zip all offical content for it, and the lack of native divx support

i don't see how appletv should be comparing to a game console who happen to do wireless media. Its even more off than the comparison between appletv and this MediaGate. AT least this MediaGate do the same thing (audio/video). $250, and does DivX/WMV/Mpeg4 etc
Why not?
If the game console can serve as a game console AND work as a wireless media gateway better it really makes you wonder about how good the TV really is doesn't it?
