I have this folder full of TV shows which were encoded using some variant of a Divx encoder (I'm assuming) and have put a .rmvb extension on the files. How do I play them? I did a search on both versiontracker, download.com and here for mac software which deals with them to no luck. VLC, quicktime nor mPlayer can play them either. What are my options to view these shows?

Your TV shows are real media variable bitrate (rmvb) files. They can be played using RealOne Player.

edit: it can be difficult to spot the link to the FREE player, so here it is. As far as I know, there is no way around filling out their form and giving them an email address in order to download the player.

Without actually downloading real? I forgot to mention that. I'm looking for something like AVOne for a PC which converts the real files to AVI files.

I have tried unsuccessfully in the past to find a program for Macs that can convert rmvb files to mpeg. The only programs I've been able to find are Windows only. Anyone know of something that can do this in Mac OS X?

how to change avi, mpg, to rm?

I've got loads of avi movies, the size of them is huge, just try to find a software which can transfer the big size avi or mpg to rm or other high-compressed format
