Anyone know why this might be happening? I don't have any tweaks that should cause this. My friend's unjailbroken phone says O2 or whatever carrier theirs is on, but mine always says AT&T (and the only way I can see the true carrier name is in settings)

I do NOT have fake carrier or anything similar installed....

If you have an at&t sim card it will almost always display at&t in the statusbar.. Roaming is different than unlocked phone, though you may know this, ive never heard of an internationally roaming phone changing carrier names either..

It always did until I jailbroke. Have you never roamed? It always says the roaming partner's name in the carrier upper left.

yes i have roamed and it always said ATT but then again my phone has almost always been jb'ed.. :D

LOL. So I guess the JB causes it then. Cause I was just in Europe with 3 phones and the 1 jailbroken one said ATT, the rest said the true carrier name.

I've always been JB but my iPhone always says what it's connected to when I'm oversea.

Though I am not with ATT so maybe it's an ATT thing?

I live in Romania and I'm on Orange.
When I go to Hungary it switches to T-Mobile ; when I go to Austria it switches to A1 I belive (haven't been to Austria in years)

International roaming always displays the local carrier….

Looks like the issue was springtomize even tho it wasn't installed. I once had it installed. So I installed it. Turned all the status bar toggles on then off then uninstalled it and the carrier name seems responsive now. It said att even when searching before and now it says searching. Yay

Clearly not "always" lol

My solution worked
you're welcome….

It does when you don't have any tweak like springtomize override the carrier name.

Eclipse538 stated that he always sees AT&T when roaming, which is not correct, you always see the local acrrier when roaming.

Clearly there are situations where you do see ATT... this is common on other phones like Androids actually.

Anyhow, glad u corrected your "your\you're" oversight. Tho I'm not sure what a local "acrrier" is... someone crying about no service?

Yes in the USA you would see it on domestic roaming, which i not really roaming at all.

For the language issues try this on google:
The revocation of independence by John Cleese.

Especially the bit about 97,8%…...

does the iphone have a roaming indicator in the status bar like other phones? Some say there is no special symbol, others say there is a small circle next to the carrier name. Which is true?

Never seen any roaming indicator on any phone.

my old blackberry had a small triangle icon when out of the country, and my older phones had an "R" symbol, or something like that. Haven't tried with an iphone yet, that's why I was asking.
