Hey everyone.

Just thought I'd give my fellow Canadians a heads up.

As others probably have, today I received a text from Rogers saying that tethering will continue to be free after May 4th.

I'm so glad they decided to go the free route with this. They could have easily started to charge after May 4th, which was the cut off date for their tethering being free.

This applies to anyone with a data plan that has at least 1GB of usage per month.

Just got that text message myself which is really good news considering I signed up for the $30 6GB plan when the iPhone first came out. :D

ok..so i've never 'tethered' - does that mean I can sit anywhere outside my home with my macbook pro and connect it to my iphone 3gs and access the net? is that understanding correct?

if so, that is going to be amazing for checking out the trail cameras before the turkey hunt.

:)

Yup! That's exactly it.

This is awesome news.

I got the 6GB of data too. Pure awesomeness.

yep, Fido subscribers like myself got the same text as well. :)

I'm not too educated on plans and tethering.

Lets say I have a 1gb data plan.

If I tether, does that mean I can only browse 1gb worth of data on my laptop? Or does that mean I have unlimited data while tethering, but 1gb while browsing on my phone.

It uses your data plan.
