ROKU 2 or Apple TV

I have been leaning towards ROKU 2 just because it looks to have more features and capability. Wondering if anyone had any thoughts? If HULU Plus was airplay compatible it would even them out in my view or just a part of apple tv.

JB is out for 4.3. Get yourself an ATV2 and I'd be happy to walk you through it (provided you use Pwnagetool).

I own both Roku 2 XS and Apple TV2. I also own 2 of the older Roku models (XR and XDS). We use our Roku boxes more than our Apple TV2. The thing I like is that you add Private channels... other than the channels that you can install from the Roku channel store. That way I can stream content that I used to get from cable TV. Right now I'm streaming "the rise of the planet of the apes" from a private channel on my TV. However, I've been reading that the Roku 2 is very picky wireless signal and speed because it uses adaptive streaming... which the older Roku models don't use. Basically if your wireless sucks and/or slow, it won't it will just crash... or you won't get a clear picture. We don't have that issue since all our streaming devices and computers are all connected by ethernet wires... and our download speeds are around +-60 Mbps. I recommend connecting by ethernet, or make sure you have good wireless at home if you get the Roku 2. Most of the people in the Roku Forums that has issues... were using wireless connection. Athough... seems like more Roku 2 owners are not having as much connection issues now with the latest firmware build.

How do you add private channels, and know where to find them, for Roku? I have one, but was unaware. Thanks.

Assuming you have a Mac with at least 10.5 running, I can help.

You'll need a microUSB cable to start, or course. Then:

1) Download TinyUmbrella and back up your SHSH blobs. No, don't skip this step. http://www.idownloadblog.com/tag/tinyumbrella/ has some information about SHSH blobs

2) Alter your etc/hosts file so it points to the Saurik server. Info: http://www.saurik.com/id/12

3) Download Pwnagetool (see above link) make sure it's the right version for whichever ios version you're using.

4) Finally, make sure you have the proper IPSW file *and* that Pwnagetool knows which file to use: http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak...-touch-4g-3g-using-pwnagetool-4.3.3-tutorial/

5) With Pwnagetool, I found that you needed to leave the power cord plugged in when getting it into DFU mode (contrary to instructions).

6) Realize that all of these steps I outline above may be different for ATV ios 4.3, which I haven't JB yet (I've only done 4.2.2).

That's basically it, I'm sure I got some details wrong. Best way to JB is to dive right in and then post when you're stuck.

I was watching it in the JTV Private channel under "Entertainment". They looping the movie over the weekend. Quality isn't great, but after watching it... I'm glad I didn't pay money for it.
