Rome Total War on the Mac.

Who else is playing this currently?

How long have you been playing?

At the moment (to my knowledge) it's the only total war game out on mac, I want to play Shogun war, but I don't want to buy it for the PC. Rome runs on my mac perfectly, so I'm hoping if they release Shogun war it will do the same.

If you don't have it, it's £17.99 on the app store. It's truly worth it, go watch some videos on YouTube. Campaign mode is perfect.

Discuss. :D

I love this game. It's such a classic. It's one of those things you can spend hours and hours on replaying the same battles over and over again.

I used to play it years ago on my PC at home.

Rome TW is very good, even all these years on! I loved that they made the campaign more interactive by being able to choose where to place armies exactly. However, I preferred medieval total war in terms of the actual battles.

I bought Shogun for £5 after I got bored of the others. It wasn't that good to be honest. Bit simple. By the time Medieval 2 came out I was too busy studying at uni to play PC games (so old!).

Got a Wii at Christmas though, which is great for playing for 20-30 mins unlike the strategy PC games I used to play for hours! (Total War, SimCity, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Civilisation, Age Of Empires...)

You know Shogun 2 is out, just released.... http://www.totalwar.com/shogun2

All updated.

I hear they are going to release it on mac, but I'm not getting my hopes up. But I'm perfectly happy with Rome, enjoying it now, enjoyed it years ago. Will continue to enjoy it. =)

RTW is Great

RTW is one of the best games I've ever played. It's up there with Deus Ex and Civilization.

When the Intel iMacs came out, I bought one (the 17" matte screen model), and bought RTW the same day (to play on boot camp). When RTW came out for the Mac I bought it so that I could avoid the reboot to play hurdle.

Medieval Total War and MTW II I picked up via e-bay (again for playing via boot camp). I didn't enjoy them as much, mainly because the addition of loyalty and religion, combined with small size of your faction, made it difficult to see the relationship between my actions and any successful outcome. That's a fancy way of saying it was too complicated for me. I'm thinking about going back to MTW and MTW II with an open mind and just playing - it may be more fun that way.

Shogun I've never played, I'll buy STW II when (if) it comes out for the Mac.

What was the question again?

Civilization, I've never played it sadly. Anything like Rome: Total War?

I'm going to wait till the other Total War games are out on mac, I could never imagine putting Windows on to my mac. If I'm super desperate I'll use my desktop.. which I'm tempted!

I currently rule half of Europe ;) But bloody people keep rioting and rebels take over my cities that I have built with massive defences! So it's harder to get back. But with a amry of about 20,000 it's not so hard. :D
