"Rootless" security in OS X 10.11

Any thoughts on this? This worries me personally, despite the "you can probably turn it off in OS X" caveat. I see a lot of implications here, especially for the cMP users.

If this pans out, it will be much like Gatekeeper in that you would be able to turn it off if you wanted to. Something like this is mostly for average users who don't understand what root is and probably shouldn't be messing with it in the first place, but developers would need a way to disable it.

Without more clear information, its very difficult to imagine what exactly is meant here, but I'd guess that they are talking about the evolution of OS X sandbox. Maybe some sort of chroot jail on steroids?

I think this may be an overreaction to the announcement, but there is a way around this. Refuse to use an operating system like this.

I have every point release of every OS X version since ML archived. I'll simply keep an older version on my machine and continue to use my favorite Apps. I won't buy any new Apple hardware with this new locked down OS either. If Apple does this, it will give Linux users a push forward, and it'll become one less OS for Microsoft to deal with. When you really think about it, it's not likely to happen.
