i have a 2.0 intel imac as well as a 2.0 macbook. i have a bunch of apps on the imac that run fine via rosetta, such as mac the ripper (v. 2.6.6) and bytecontroller. however, they will not work on my MB...when i try to launch them, they just quit and the dialog box shows up telling me the app quit unexpectedly. is anyone else having this same problem...does anyone know how i can remedy this? thanks!

I'm not sure what the exact problem is, and all I can say is that I've noticed similar issues. For example, when I wanted to transfer Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 to my Intel iMac, it wouldn't run. Period. When I instead installed in on my mini duo, it ran fine (contrary to your examples, my iMac was the problem child). I've never seen the issue with UB apps, just PPC ones, and I've noticed it a few times.

yeah, the ones that won't work are the PPC ones, and they were copied over from an external HD which was a cloned from my ibook. PS elements works fine for me b/c i did a re-install...but some apps like MTR and bytecontroller don't have installers so shouldn't be a problem.

however, some PPC apps work fine even though they were copied from the external drive, like handbrake and MS office. hmmm...strange...

update: i couldn't get a lot of PPC apps to launch on my MB, so i ended up doing a clean system install and manually installing all the apps again. now the PPC apps work again...spent a lot of time, but worth it in the long run...

update 2: alright, it's not working again...apps like MTR, dvd2onex, bytecontroller do not launch, while office 2004 and goliath work fine.

anyone else getting this? the difference between last night and today is that i installed some key updates - the latest security update, garage band update, iwork '06 update, and QT 7.1. but my imac also has all these updates and runs PPC apps fine...i wonder if the newest 10.4.6 build is different enough from the intel imac build that rosetta is more finicky...help!!
