I have a rectangular screen shot (700 x 300 pixels). How would I go about rounding the top corners?

I am currently evaluating the GIMP (which I think has most of the features of Photoshop). I do have access to Fireworks too.

Thanks,

MadDoc

I haven't done this in GIMP in a long time, but it is easy in Photoshop. So I will tell you how in Photoshop and you could probably easliy figure it out in GIMP.

With the image open use you Marquee tool to select the area you want to remain.

then in the Select menu Modify> Smooth

Give it a pixel radius for the corners and hit OK

then inverse the selection. Select > Inverse.

and hit the delete key. and bam rounded corners

Hope that helps.

Thanks bbeers,

It turns out (I guess I should have looked more thoroughly!) that you can go to:

Select > Rounded Rectangle...

The rest is self-explanatory

BTW, why Inverse the selection?

MadDoc,

You could use a rounded rectangle as a layer mask in Photoshop.
This is a more contemporary (eg: adjustable/non-destructive) method of doing this.
Not sure if GIMP or Fireworks support layer masks though.
