Routing iPhone sound through a computer?

I would like to hook my iPhone up to the dock and be able to hear phone calls through the computers headphones (Mac Pro Quad Core, running Vista for this particular application).

Is there any way to do this, or am I out of luck? My goal is to be able to hear both phone conversations and game sounds through the computer's headphones.

Welll... I suppose you could run a cable from the iPhone's headphone jack to the computer's mic/line-in jack... But then the only sound input for the iPhone would be its internal mic.

I have an idea, but it's flawed. I'll tell you the idea, then point out the flaw.

So, buy one of these mixers:

Run a stereo mini cable from the computer to an adapter that splits it into 2 RCA cables. Plug that into the mixer. Do the same thing from the iPhone's headphone jack.

Get the large headphone adapter and listen directly to the mixer. You have seperate volume controls for the device right there in front of you. Perfect.

Ok, now the flaw: I don't see how you can talk into the phone during a call! The only way to do that while using the audio jack is to plug Apple's earbuds into the phone and use those directly, which messes up this plan.

So this idea won't work. I'm throwing it out here in case it gets someone else's imagination going...maybe someone else can take this idea and go in another direction with it.

Actually, the mic still works when using an audio jack - works fine in my car, except the volume on the calls is pretty low.

I had one other thought. I don't have a Dock, but I know it has a mini-line out. Does anyone know if THAT sound comes from the dock port on the phone?

If so, you can possibly use my first plan but add a Dock to the iPhone. Might this leave the speaker phone available on the phone? Hmmm...but perhaps the Dock would block the phone's speakers!

Someone with a Dock would have to tell you if using Speaker phone in the Dock is possible or not.

Anyone ever figure out a way to do this? Specifically, can it be done with a bluetooth connection between the iPhone and your computer?

It'd be nice to leave the iphone on your stereo's docking station, then use some software on your mac to talk/listen through your computer's mic and speakers.
