I'm not much of a Samsung fan, but to me, all Android phones should be made durable and tough like this, with large batteries. This phone running stock Android would be my nerd wet dream come true.

Ruggedness aside, the Galaxy S8 Active sports a 5.8-inch display (to match the screen size of the regular S8). Other specs should include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a generous battery - 4000 mAh. S8 Active will be drop-proof from heights of 5 feet (1.5 meters), in addition to being dust- and water-resistant.

To me spec wise, this is the prefect 2017 hardware, but running on yucky Touchwiz UI

Imagine a GPE version of this phone. Stock Android directly supported by Google, but in a tough built phone like this, with current flagship specs, and a nice 4,000mAh battery.

I do not understand why manufactures don't make a phone like this as the basis for their main flagship ? Who wouldn't want a big beefy battery ? Who doesn't like IP68 water and dust proof ? Who doesn't want a phone that can handle being dropped and not breaking ?

I have came across a bunch of Active's that have had cracked screens, I wonder how rugged they actually are. My wife's current phone is a G6 A and it is cracked on the bottom right corner

True, I've also wondered that. I don't know if it's because they're more likely to be used in situations where they break or because the screen isn't all that durable
