Rules not working in mail app with iCloud

Hi, has anyone noticed that rules no longer work in the mail app when using an iCloud account? everything stays in the inbox (for me anyway). I know they said that rules will no longer be synced between devices but icloud has killed them completely in my mail program!

If you used to use "On My Mac" inbox and mail folders, and have now switched to iCloud inbox and mail folder, the rules won't work. I sees them as different folders and will fail quietly to apply the rules if you no longer have the On My Mac folders present.

If you just run through your rules and update the destination folder for all of them, they should start working again.

Interestingly, I seem to now be replying to my old mail to say that, under MacOS Sierra, the rail rules now fail to apply altogether! Everything is set up correctly, folder are right, etc, etc, but they just don't work at all. Any of them.

Anyone else found a solution? I am stuck!
