The failing economy has struck close to home for Mac gamers: Famed Mac and PC game publisher Aspyr Media has confirmed layoffs of staff members at its Austin, Texas headquarters. Aspyr did not announce how many employees were affected by the layoffs, but sources close to the company put the number at more than 30.

They seemed to have moved away from the Mac towards PC development, but I guess the economy is sucking there too.

It's pretty tough for the medium-sized studios to survive at the moment. The big guys have unlimited barrels of money and the small guys just don't have the people to lay off. I'm kinda pumped for Fighting Fantasy DS too!
