??? "Simple software update" Umm. Unless Apple secretly built a wifi radio into these things (which, given the tiny space...)

As much as we all want some miracle to be pulled out of someone's ass, I'm not buying it.

I'm guessing the AP3's will come with U1 and Wifi/AirPlay baked in.

Most of that article might make sense but using AirPlay on AirPods doesn’t. An upgraded Bluetooth AAC protocol (LAAC?) would be nice and more likely, whether or not current hardware could or would support it is another question, and such a thing would need to be finalized and announced well ahead of any product utilizing it.
