Also thanks to dfine1966 for sharing the article.

The main points from the article are

March 11: An unverified Twitter account for analyst Ming-Chi Kuo states that an iMac Pro won’t ship until 2023.
According to Bloomberg, the larger iMac was “paused” so that Apple could get the 24-inch iMac out.

The rest of the article is speculation based on what the new iMacs could look like.
This is a nice counter rumour to the other rumour that says there will be no 27 inch iMac ever anymore.

So now it's 2023 and not 2022?... I think Apple is trolling the leakers here. Even at the last Apple event they said the only remaining Mac to be upgraded was the Mac Pro. I don't see the larger high end iMac having a place in the lineup with the Mac Studio. Maybe a low end iMac with a larger screen since even the base model Studio is pricey but then you have the Mac mini.

I think the iMac Pro made sense before people starting using multiple moitors and when it was the only powerful modern Mac. Now most professionals want multiple monitors and if Apple planned on releasing an iMac Pro they shot themselves in the foot with the Mac Studio. Having an AIO is just not practical. It's more difficult to repair. If IT needs to take the Mac in for repair or upgrade (replacement) it's cumbersome while the Studio could just be carried in a bag. You can't just upgrade the "Mac" in the iMac without buying a new monitor. Also if you need to travel for some reason it's so much smaller and you can get a monitor at your destination fairly easily. There's so many disadvantages of an AIO in a professional environment.

For a home environment with general computing an AIO makes some sense because it's not high end hardware so you're not permanently attaching $2500 worth of "Mac" to a $1500 monitor. It looks nicer and most people don't want multiple monitors (Yes I know gamers but this is a Mac). Perhaps some consumers would like a larger screen so I can see a 27 or 32" iMac that is similarly spec'd to the 24" model. Even for home use the downside is when the hardware gets out of date then the monitor is wasted but home users will keep their hardware longer while most companies have a hardware replacement cycle.

Anything is possible and Apple will sell it if they think people will buy it. I just don't see any advantage for an AIO for high end professional use so I don't see companies buying it.

no-one but Apple knows ...
Apple is in a huge transition and the new lineup will not shake out until ~ 1.5yrs from now.

Rumors, guesses, speculations will rule!!

Apple gave everyone a heads up that there was one more transition to go .. but that was for another day.

They would only say that to warn the really high end purchaser that a Mac sudio was not for them, but that the pro was just around the corner.

I think a m2 based 2x ultra machine will be announced at wwdc but available later in 2022.

Exactly... It's like they're saying everything so one of the rumors will be right. Two articles down from this thread (It might not be the same when you read this) is "Apple Not Planning to Launch Larger-Screened iMac". These rumors get to be crazy but can be fun.
