A report from Taiwanese media Digitimes states Nexus 6 will be made by Motorola, Nexus 7 being phased out and replaced by Nexus 8, and HTC will make the new Nexus 10.

Apparently 2nd gen Nexus 7 has not sold as well as Google has hoped, due to increased competition from other low end 7 inch tablets, as well as the higher price tag of the second generation. Nexus 8 will still be made by Asus and will be released in a couple of months.

I personally would be very ecstatic if the rumor is true. HTC builds excellent hardware and Motorola builds excellent phones. Asus Nexus 8 sounds pretty good as it will be the same size as iPad Mini. One can only hope :D

As an owner of a Moto X, I would love to see Motorola build a nexus phone.

This... Right... Here... Times 1 million.

Every Android phone I have owned, I have rooted and threw a ROM on it just to get this feature or that. My Moto ax is staying stock, that is how good I think it is right out of the box. I didn't even feel this way about my a Nexus 5 running vanilla Android.

If Motorola makes the Nexus 6 with the same magic they put in the Moto X, they can take my money right now! My only wish is that the Nexus 6 made my Motorla is close to 5" and has a camera equal to or better than the current S4 or Lumia 1520 and keeps the Moto X software with active listening.

Yup, all three companies make solid build quality devices. Be happy if they manufacturer the tablets even though all three cant compare to sales from the Koreans and Chinese OEM's. Their combined marketshare doesnt even touch companies like Xiaomi or LG with single digit marketshare globally.

Whether it helps them or not, truth is Nexus devices don't sell well anyway. Google needs to start marketing Nexus devices in more developing countries. I like HTC is going to focus more in the low to midrange market this year. The higher-end market is basically a two-horse race between Apple vs Samsung.
