Apple YouTuber EverythingApplePro, in collaboration with reliable leaker Max Weinbach (@MaxWinebach), have leaked some details about the upcoming iPhone 12.

The main new feature that EverythingApplePro speaks about is the addition of a 120Hz ProMotion display exclusively to the iPhone 12 Pro series. This means that only the 6.1” and 6.7” high-end Pro models will be receiving the new display. All the other models will be staying with the current 60Hz display.

EverythingApplePro says that the engineers did have problems with implementing the ProMotion into the iPhone, however, their attitude was to either get 120Hz working or stick with 60Hz. EverythingApplePro said that there was no in-between with the engineers.

Another large mitigation was battery life. Due to the new, heavy-duty display, the battery was suffering. Due of the battery drain, Apple have increased the size of the battery to 4400mAH capacity in the iPhone 12 Pro.

The telephoto lens will be getting 3x optical zoom. Alongside this, the telephoto lens will be getting Night Mode, which means that it will no longer be just the Wide lenses that have Night Mode.

Zoom will also be getting some improvements, and the engineers are trying to decide between 25x or 30x zoom, both of which are a massive improvement over the 10x optical zoom currently offered.

The zoom on these cameras is getting really good. I never would have thought we’d get here.

With periscope lens coming in 2022. So we could see even more digital zoom by then. How ever I do feel 30x zoom isn’t more than enough right now as beyond that I don’t see the huge benefit

did the engineers solve the problem already with these two:

1. display

2. battery

kind of not clear in the video.

Yeah I believe so, think he said 4400 battery but then suggests it might be even bigger to solve the issues

All guesses masquerading as "leaks".
These aren't tidbits of top secret iPhone info provided by an Apple spy, they're just BS

Uhh

iPhone 11 Pro series have the best displays and battery in modern iPhones.
the standard 11 also has great battery, but it could see an improvement in display.

No they aren’t they are from a proven leaker who is close to the supply chain. A guy who leaked all the details of the S20 for example and was proven correct

They're from reputable leakers like Max Weinbach and Jon Prosser. Anyway it seems weird to be critiquing "rumours" on macrumours.com XD.

duh

referring to the iPhone 12 as it is stated in the article the engineers are having a hard time of making the 120hz adjustable and even retaining the same battery life as before with that technology

And USB-C right? RIGHT??

Nope. Why would they? Apple with lightning is a massive monopoly for them They are affiliation through third-party manufacturers. [Also, the AirPods are still supporting lightning as an accessory to the iPhone.] If you think about how many devices Apple users have in their house that actually enable lightning, that’s one of the main reasons to tether users to Apples ecosystem. There’s zero reason for Apple To transition to USB-C right now, but that change probably will eventually happen in the future at some point, but the time isn’t Now.

Jon Prosser is saying

All iPhone 12 models will start at 128GB

iPhone 12 to have 4GB of ram and the pros to have 6GB of ram

I know the 60-120Hz refresh rate has been a marketing angle in the television market for some years now, but like with TV's, are we going to see a huge difference with iPhones? Do the current OLED iPhones have motion issues (its not something I've read)? I did see it discussed when the iPhone X was released that the screen was capable of 120Hz (conflicting articles on that) but locked to 60Hz in order to preserve battery life and perhaps as the technology wasn't quite there. Also the software was adapted to show artificial frames in order to hide the fact there are very minor stutters when scrolling. I know Promotion was a key feature on the iPad Pro in 2017 etc.

My questions are, are we going to see a huge difference and suddenly something that was spoken about as near perfect for the past 3 years, is this now obviously inferior between models?

Think it depends on the person, many have said once you use the 120hz they wouldn’t want to go back to 60hz. Some others don’t see a big difference. Guess it depends what you use it for to see how noticeable it is personally.

I would hate if for some reason they ditched this and not included it. I think apple know they need to get it right otherwise they will face big hate for not including it when other phones have it this year and will keep adding it for this year.

I suppose if you are doing a lot of fast scrolling it will be less blurry. Strange how the technology has matured yet they are only putting it on 2 models though? Is it an exclusive for the 'difference factor' or genuinely a feature that will compel people to spend more I wonder? I'd be happy if my next iPhone had an LCD again but I'm sure a 60Hz OLED will be plenty good enough.

From what the rumours are saying the non pros will get it in 2021. I think if you are already using a 60hz screen not like you can miss something you don’t use.

That's very true, plus 2021 is useless to those upgrading this year but that's the way it goes. I suppose its the same as those using LCD don't miss OLED at the moment because they haven't got it to miss lol.
