run diagnostics? 2013 imac june

imac 2013 june....that is the cut off date according to what I could find on the webnet to be able to run diagnostics using the apple start up, hold down the d key and let it check out the h/w---of course I am specifically interested in my hard drive- I also have a 2012 mbp I would like to run diagnostics on- same story- both are running sierra-Not sure if it is ok to run it or not...both may be out date complaint for that tool? anyone know ?...surly could not hurt to run it ?? or could it.?Thanks

Go to this link Github and download the Apple Hardware Test for your two models. Leave image on desktop after opening, and burn to a USB thumb drive. Boot from the drive and run then full Apple Hardware Test.
