Run Windows on macbook Pro Laptop

Hi

Can anyone help to how to run windows 10 64-bit on external hard disk not flash memory to run as Bootcamp or by Virtual machine without taking any space on Macbook just only on External HD

I use VirtualBox V6.0.8 to run windows on an external drive (500 GB USB 3.0) Its slow but works. A faster HD (SSD with a thunderbolt 3 connection) would help.
