128GB Runcore 1.8" lif for Macbook Air purchased in November, had occasional hangs when waking from sleep, no longer responds at all. Put original drive back in MacBook Air and it works fine. Attempted to attach RunCore drive to the USB adapter that it came with and it doesn't show up via USB at all either. Have contacted both support@runcore.com and MDD where the drive was purchased, neither has responded for request for warranty service. How can I get warranty service on this drive? RunCore support appears to be non-existent. Would NOT recommend anyone purchasing from this company.

Thanks for reporting the failed Runcore drive and sorry for what happened. I was on the edge of dropping $450 on the Runcore to replace my Air's SSD, after reading huge gain in performance from many experienced members. Glad I didn't.

From the countless threads I read here of Runcore, I don't think the company is reliable. For a $450 replacement part, Runcore couldn't even produce an adequate instruction, not to mention the crappy screw driver and half-ass external enclosure they threw in as "this-might-work, if-not, that your-problem" accessories. What does that say about customer-care?

I hope you find a satisfactory respond to your problem. Good luck.

You don't have to use their screw driver, I used one of the regular smaller ones from my PC tools. Worked just fine.

You are right about their support, it was average at best. Mine has been beach balling randomly, especially after resuming from sleep for the 2nd or 3rd time. Since I bought mine used I thought this maybe due to the drive being filled and lack of TRIM in OS X. We'll see if that's the case.

I've seen "Matt" the runcore employee on this site. Maybe he can help you.

Or contact Scottsdale, he prob knows how to get in touch with Matt from Runcore.

That's not really an option as they don't produce a compatible drive (wrong connector - Intel drives use MiniSATA and MBA needs SATA-LIF).

Anyway, I think that a PM to Matt or Scottsdale is probably your best bet.

Go back to MDD, Runcore wont help you and the warranty lies where you bought it! They should send you a new one.

Personally the Runocre works perfectly, its the bloody hard drive enclosures that don't! My retailer sent me a replacement and it started to smoke when i plugged it in to my mac mini usb! LOL Frightening!

No one should count out the Runcore its 100 times superior to the HDD.

Just don't expect an after-service from them and if you just happen to purchase the early release model from a 3rd party, they all shipped with faulty usb bride's and apparently not so good firmware.

(So basically you can't use your original drive):

Hi guys and gals sorry I have been absent for a while been really busy with other projects.

Has MyDigitalDiscount.com taken care of the drive replacement? They are usually right on top of that kind-of thing.

Also, I suggest everyone upgrade their Firmware to 1918.

Here is a thread regarding the upgrade.
