Running anti-malware and anti-virus apps simultaneously

I recently installed the premium version of Malwarebytes on my MB Pro. Let's not get into a discussion of whether that's really necessary vs. the free version or whether Macs need protection because there are always things the user could inadvertently do to cause trouble. I also have the free version of Sophos installed and was wondering if running both simultaneously could be an issue. My understanding is that the programs don't both check for the same problems.

Based on how I use the computer I don't encounter any slowdowns, if that's one concern, but would the two programs somehow interfere with each other?

You should be fine. They check for different things.
