Hi all. I am editing short videos on my iPad with Lumafusion and I was curious if there was a way to hook up my iPad Pro to the Mac to edit my videos if I want to. I really like Lumafusion for editing videos. Just curious if this can be done. I am currently on Mojave. Would I need to get an adapter if this can be done?

Thank you!

There's no way to run iPad apps on the Mac.

I thought it could be done through screen mirroring or something. Oh well, maybe someday.

Thanks for your reply.

You can extend your Mac desktop to the iPad if you're using Catalina and iPadOS 13, but not the other way around, and the apps are still running on the Mac in that case. (This is called Sidecar by Apple.)

You can hook up your iPad to a USB-C monitor if you have a 2018 or 2020 Pro, but it’s limited to the iPad‘s aspect ratio. (I expect this will change with iPadOS 14.) Unfortunately no standalone Mac supports this, but it might work if you already have an external monitor.

You could try and offer some feedback to LumaFusion regarding a MacOS app.

Well, you can find some great apps for video editing for macOS. Final Cut Pro is one of the best. I understand though that you would like to be able to work on your video projects on both platforms using the same application. Apple has made a lot of technologies available that enable the development of apps that can be compiled for iOS and macOS, but of course it is a lot of work, so Lumafusion would have to decide if there is enough sales potential on the Mac platform..

You can connect almost any iPad to an external display if you use the Lightning HDMI adapter.

I have a 2020 iPad with usb-c. If I wanted to connect it to my external monitor- I have an Eizo, what type of adapter do I need? The Belkin Usb-c to HDMI adapter or the Apple USB-c to thunderbolt cable?

Thanks!

Unless your monitor has Thunderbolt ports I think the choice is clear - get the Belkin.

iPads don't have Thunderbolt so you cannot use any Thunderbolt accessory on the iPad.
