Running on AC, leave battery inside?

I'm a newbie to MacRumours and I just received my Macbook Pro (first mac computer). I've previously owned many PC notebooks.

Previously, whenever I was running on the AC, i was always careful to remove the battery. I was told that this would prolong my battery life, as leaving in the battery may cause the battery to be recharged often. Since batteries have a maximum number of charges.

Is this true? Should i remove my battery when i'm running my MBP from the AC?

Any help in prolonging the battery life is appreciated!

No...leave the battery in. The Mac is smart enough to know not to charge the battery if it's over 95% full. Removing the battery doesn't do anything to prolong battery life, and it only exposes the interior of your computer to more dust and dirt.

Just be sure to calibrate your battery every few months...it'll keep your battery fresher and make sure your computer is reading your battery's capacity and status correctly.
