Ever since I uninstalled and re installed mobile substrate and then deleted some Launch Daemons (safe ones of course) it didn't take me long to realize that my battery was running out quick when I was on LTE, by fast I probably drop 20 percent in about 20 minutes in sleep mode / non use, and when I am using it, I can noticeably tell the battery dropping in the corner of my eye. It's getting to bug me, but I don't know why it's doing that?

None of the tweaks I have really concern my LTE nor do I think battery...
Accelerate, Action Menu, AppList, AudioExplorer+, Auxo
Barrel, BatteryDoctorPro, biteSMS, BrowserChanger
Color Keyboard
DietBulletin
Fabius Utils, FlagPaint, FolderEnhancer
Gridlock
Haptic Pro
Infinidock
LyricFlow
MultiIconover
Phantom
Springtomize, StatusHUD
TypeStatus
WinterBoard
Zeppelin

When I had these tweaks before I uninstalled MS, I didn't notice any problem at all w/ LTE.

Have you checked Location Services to see if anything is being triggered and left on?

I usually keep Location Services off until I need something like Yelp but after use I turn that off & clear background. But otherwise nothing seems to be left on.

OK. Well…Auxo has a known memory issue that wasn't fixed yet the last time I checked. Other than those two things I don't know enough to suggest any fixes.

I doubt its LTE that's causing your battery to use up 20 percent in about 20 minutes. I'm on LTE all day and my JB iphone 5 lasts a full day without charge.
Its one of those many many tweaks that you have installed and yes they would cause bad battery life.
Start remove stuff you don't need or use and start with Auxo 1st cause its a well known battery and memory leak hack.

Ended up trying and deleting Auxo, Action Menu, BrowserChanger, FlagPaint, LyricFlow and MultiIconMover then proceeded to set it on LTE for standby. Seemed to improve by about 5% but same kind of battery loss

Anything else? I might end up just uninstalling each tweak one by one and see which one makes the battery improve the most but it sounds a bit lengthy

I've also heard problems before w/ people having Winterboard and people having a lot of battery problems with it but I've never ran into any. Although does the amount of themes you have unused but just in storage affect anything? I try to keep as few as possible.

I have at least two of the tweaks you uninstalled, plus Winterboard and several unused themes. I'm not having any battery issues. In fact, if I leave my phone on WiFi I might lose maybe 15-20% during a 19 hour day, more on cellular of course.

I have no idea what could be causing your problem.

Winterboard is also a battery hog.
What's the evidence behind that?

I'm not questioning your knowledge, I'm just curious. I haven't heard that before. And my experience has been the opposite. Either that or I'm used to only going a day between charging.

I get up at 5:30-5:45am. By the time I got to bed around 12am I'm usually any where from 1 to 30% of battery left. If I leave it on WiFi I can go to bed with about 50-60% or more left.

I've got several themes running for various springboard and lockscreen stuff and quite a few that are not active. I've also got LivePapers running on top of all of that.

Would having a mostly black/grayscale UI offset any Winterboard effects, even though it's Winterboard that's giving me that UI? My lockscreen is mostly clear too, except for Dashboard X and that's courtesy of Winterboard themes (and one or two other tweaks). Would that be a corellation or have nothing to do with it?

In my experience, the biggest battery drain is lack of signal. With LTE on mine drains faster than off when I'm in an area with no LTE coverage and very little 3G coverage.

I switch it off at work where it's worst. At home I leave it on the charger so it doesn't matter much.

For the record, prior to moving to where I'm at now I always had good Sprint coverage. I'm in a dead zone for every carrier.

I can agree with that. I'm in decent LTE coverage at home (Sprint). Work fluctuates between LTE and 3G so my battery takes a bigger hit with weaker LTE signal. However, I think it evens out because 3G is stronger at work because of the buildout of Network Vision now. I have WiFi at home and work but since August I refuse to use it except when there is no signal period.

I went almost a year with no LTE and pathetic 3G, paying Sprint to use my home WiFi that I already pay Cox for, so Sprint can give me the service I pay for now that they have LTE out here! :D

It depends on the themes you install but they are more taxing on processor and battery than stock.
Some themes are worst than others. I myself avoid WB for years but if what you have installed works fine with little battery drain then that's up to you.

That's correct.
Bad coverage will always eat battery faster. whether that's bad LTE or bad 3G signal.

Hey,

I ended up trying to remove a bunch of things like Barrel, Color Keyboard, DietBulletin, StatusHUD, Zeppelin, And Winterboard. Most of these I could learn to live without but I'd still rather have. I ended up not getting any major improvement on my LTE battery life.

I'm also pretty sure I get good signal. I stay within 3 bars at the least. I don't know what could be causing the problem at this point. Probably should try to restore now?

Id say try ilexrat first if you want to keep your jailbreak

I think LYE is totally overrated.

HSDPA+ can deliver upwards of 40 Mbit/s. If this isn't enough I don't know what you do with your smartphone.

I get 25 Mbit/s with HSDPA+ and it's plenty.

Only T-Mobile (and MVNO's under T-Mobile such as Metro PCS) use HSPA+42, as far as I'm aware of

AT&T uses HSPA+21. Verizon's 3G is CDMA based which is completely different and only hits a theoretical 3 Mbps down (not too sure about the CDMA side of things)

No one will actually hit that theoretical cap or come close to it for the most part

Besides that, T-Mobile is in the process of allocating their AWS 3G spectrum to upgrading their LTE network from 10+10 to 20+20. They're transitioning users from the AWS 3G to their PCS 3G

I agree with you though, LTE can be overrated but if you get bad 3G speeds (I get like 2 Mbps when at home, LTE increases that to only around 3 Mbps), you will appreciate speed improvements with LTE.

LTE also helps if you're trying to watch a high quality video without buffering. It'll also be a more rugged infrastructure than 3G since it should theoretically be less strain on the network (if they place speed caps)

Yeah I'm in Europe so there's obviously different offerings. But I have a HSDPA+ plan 21 Down/5 Up and I actually achieve these speeds in real life. So for me, upgrading to anything above would not result in any noticeable speed gain. I understand your comment, and it makes sense to get LTE if even 3G coverage is not that good.

They always complain that Europe has missed the LTE conversion (they are in fact lagging behind the US in this regard) but with such good 3G/HSDPA/HSDPA+ networks, I'm not sure if LTE will be that important in the near future.

LTE is way better at handling more traffic and makes better usage of bandwidth than old 3G or HSPA+.

That's what I was thinking.

Would be so much simpler to have WiFi everywhere huh :) I myself never really got into knowing HSDPA rates, just really cared for 3g, 4G, or LTE myself. As long as I have a fast phone you know.

Besides all of that, does anyone know if deleting Launch Daemons have to do with anything? I mentioned it in the first post but I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or has nothing to do with it at all. I'm going to guess so, but the only real major ones I deleted were all of the safe daemons, address book, racoon, and the one for spotlight. Probably a newbie question

I hope you made a backup folder for the launch daemons. If you did, install them again and let's see if you get an improvement.

How's this for battery life?

I even turned LTE off (no LTE signal at work anyways) and closed all apps. Hard reset a few times. This screenshot was the 40 or so minutes after phone was charged to 100% on my break.

The phone stayed at 31% for an hour and a half, playing music and that's it. (Screen off)

I plugged it in on lunch break and immediately went to 9% from 31. Unplugged and it jumped to 54%.

I'm so tired of this. It happens randomly. Some days I get a charge to last almost my entire 10 hour shift. Other days... I'm glad I have a charger there but it's useless since I can't charge while I move around and listen to music.

Have you tired using it until you get down to like 5% and then plug it into a wall charger and let it charge for about 30 mins over 100%? Don't touch it and don't unplug it while it charges. This recalibrates the battery.

If it dropped from 100% to 31% after only 40 minutes of use, looks like your battery is bad and replacing the battery is probably your best bet

You can also try recalibrating the battery as bumpyflatline above said and see if that helps with the battery percentage flunctuations

As I said, most days it's not bad at all and well within what I would call 'normal' battery drain. I have done the recalibration a few times to no avail. Battery usage has only been erratic on iOS 7. I ran the beta for awhile in the summer, then back to iOS 6 and it was fine on 6. Updated to 7 GM and back to crap. The phone was bought brand new in February and my usage/charging habits haven't changed.

I love almost everything about iOS 7, except for this issue.
