Running sloowwww for no reason

I have dreamweaver and photoshop open a lot of the time to do webdesign and it runs fine and dandy when i first open the programs up.

However, 4-5 hours in (and some sleeping), the laptop LAGGSSSS, everything is slooowwwww, and it takes FOREVER to do tings, and the rainbow circle thingy pops up every time i click on a window.

Why does this happen?

You might need more RAM because you're running Photoshop (and I think Dreamweaver) in Rosetta, assuming we're talking about your MacBook.

it runs fine when i first start working with the programs... it only starts lagging hours in.

and on my activity monitor i have loads of free ram left, like 200-300 mb, and it still lags.
