is it possible to run two monitors from a mbp? i have a friend who is considering buying one, but he really wants to be able to drive two monitors from it (i don't know why). that seems to be a deal breaker for him for some reason. he uses an ibm laptop with a dock - he can plug one monitor into the laptop and another into the dock and then have 3 indepent screens including his laptop.

is something like that possible with a mbp?

You can only use one external monitor with a MBP.

There is a workaround where you can buy some third party hardware than you can plug two external monitors in and they will act like one monitor, you can then connect the whole thing to the MBP.

Advise your friend to invest in a 24"/27" monitor of some description. I'd recommend Dell and Samsung. If he's willing to part with a substantial amount of cash, maybe a 23" Apple Cinema Display.

Does he realise how much screen real-estate he will have running a 24" monitor, for example, at 1920 x 1200? It really is amazing. If he goes for the hi-res 17", he'll have double the space.
