Hey guys,

Got a question. My wife is Ukrainian (but she speaks Russian as her main language). We currently live in Kiev but when we move back I wanna get her a MacBook or MacBook Pro. Anybody know if I can get an English/Russian keyboard to replace the English one? She's going to keep in contact with all of her Russian speaking friends back here and she doesn't know the Russian keyboard layout well enough to just type away without looking. Much thanks ahead of time.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestion, I put the stickers on the PC laptop that she has, but I'm really fussy about sticking stuff on a Mac. :) Seems like if I'm going to spend $1500 to $2000+ on a laptop I might as well just go all the way and spend couple hundred bucks on the keyboard.

You might try getting a replacement part at the Apple store in Kyiv. They are all non-company stores but can still order replacement parts.

Aside from Cyrillic keyboard stickers, all I could find was this Russian replacement keyboard for the iBook G4: http://www.welovemacs.com/rs9226638.html

I suggest going to Apple's feedback page and requesting proper Russian support. I'll be somewhat surprised if Leopard and the next round of hardware revisions don't support more major languages (like Russian).

Edit: I found more online confirmation that Leopard has full Russian support. That almost certainly means full hardware support (keyboard, etc.) is also planned.
