Hi,
I was trying to test the Windows installer on my Mac Pro 5,1, I got the message "Cannot find boot disk, press any key".
I then tried to re-boot Mojave, it started as normal but as soon as it was going to display the Log In password screen, the screen would go black. I then tried the DVI port of RX 580 (moved from HDMI) and it worked. Today I connected the HDMI port (as well as the DVI port) and it appeared to work. I then restarted Mojave and now I have both screens working.
I'm glad the RX 580 seems recovered, but I was wondering what would cause this? I can see that the windows boot process could have put the RX 580 into a strange state, but surely a restart should reset this? I also tried a deep NVRAM reset but it still wouldn't work.
The card it still under warranty if there's something wrong with it then I can get a replacement but how to tell?
Any ideas?
All the Best
Dave
