Hello all,

A few months ago I bought a gtx 680 to upgrade my mac pro. However I've noticed it severely starting to lag behind in editing softwares. (The 667mhz ram could also be causing this) I've seen multiple posts that it's possible with a bunch of knowledge, but i'm kind of an idiot when it comes to stuff like this. If anyone can provide a simple explanation to install an rx 580 into a 3,1, it would be greatly appreciated. (I know about the sse4.2 or whatever, but idk what that is :p)

Use OpenCore, I've not actually tried it on a Mac Pro 3,1 and an RX 580 but it should work ok

Install the MouSSE SSE4.2 Emulator by @Syncretic.

*** How do I install it?
The easiest way to install MouSSE is to use one of the MacOS patchers, either from @dosdude1 (http://dosdude1.com) or @0403979/RMC Team (https://github.com/rmc-team/macos-patcher/releases).

The above text is from 2021. My guess that OpenCore Legacy Patcher also installs MouSSE, although I have not checked.

Sorry for the extremely late reply, but would I just have to install dosdude1's patch, then it would automatically work, (same with open core), or would i have to install them after I download one of the patches?
