Im thinking about getting a higher mAh battery for my S4, would you trust them in your phone? This one is claiming to have a 5800mAh battery but I'm unsure.

What do you think?

Here's a link to a site setting one, although I've seen it on others too.

Link

Also it mentions it's for the i9500, I have the i9505, would it be compatible?

When I bought an original battery for my i9505 it also said i9500. I asked the seller on ebay who had thousands of positive transactions and they said it's compatible with the i9505 too. I'm not sure if this is the same though.

Would I trust them? I generally wouldn't think twice about it but after seeing that guys S4 blow up yesterday I'm a bit worried even though he was using everything stock.

If you're going to get an extended battery, get it from a reputable company like Anker, Zerolemon, or Hyperion.

For that price I took the plunge and got one, hopefully my S4 won't explode.

The article I saw on Engadget said it was an S3, odd.

I looked at Anker batteries, however they're all the wrong colour, I suppose I could by an Anker battery and try to use the back case from the one I just ordered?

Are Anker a good brand?

I have their 8400 dual USB external battery and it's been working great for the since I got it a few months ago.

I've just ordered an Anker 5200mAh battery which comes with a blue back, my only other choice in anker colours was White, I shall put the Anker battery in and try to use the black case from my other battery coming.

Please post back with your experience. I might be interested in getting one.

I hope samsung makes an official extended to battery like they did with the gs3.the note 2 battery would be perfect and not add a lot of bulk to the phone

I've just got it today and have put it and wow! This thing is huge! The battery itself is at least 3 times as thick as the stock. With the case on, the GS4 becomes approximately twice as thick throughout most of the phone, tapering off to normal at the top. (On the plus side the camera lens now sits several mm away from the surface that you rest it on, so no risk of scratching the lens like the stock back).

As there is a large hollow area below the battery where the speaker sits, so it seems louder than it used to, deeper even. Also sound no longer muffles when you set the phone down on the table. Now I've gotten over how thick it is (It really was a shock to begin with) I don't mind it, it still sits in my rather large hands comfortably, and still fits into my pockets with ease.

Apologies for the bad photos, I cant show any pictures of the phone, because it's my only camera. Here are some pictures of the back covers side by side so you can get an idea though. I'll comment on the battery life in a few days when I've gotten some real usage out of it.

First day with it, had it on Max brightness, intermittantly made some calls and texts during the day, browsed the web on my break and lunch, played a little Uno, used the maps app in my car while Bluetoothing music and here is how it's holding up, down to 50% with 5 hours Screen on time.

Normally I'd get around 4 hours screen on, on 25% brightness.

Hey there. Any chance you'd be able to give us a thickness measurement with the battery on? Would be appreciated :)a

Very impressive IMO! Just worried about how heavy and thick it'll be.

I'm waiting for the ZeroLemon batteries

3000 mah that fits in original back cover
http://www.amazon.com/warranty-Zero...&sr=1-25&keywords=ZeroLemon+Samsung+Galaxy+S4

They are also making a 7500mah extended battery that comes with a tpu case
http://www.amazon.com/warranty-Zero...&sr=1-22&keywords=ZeroLemon+Samsung+Galaxy+S4

Anker is a great brand that I have used in the past wish they released an extended stock size battery

Any ideas when they're coming out?

Last night I fell asleep watching YouTube in bed with it. Woke up to the phone on 20% battery, with 8 hours 40 minutes on screen time. I'm hopefully visiting a friend tomorrow so I'll use his iPhone to take pictures etc.

I also was waiting for Zerolemon's release until I noticed that it didn't have the NFC chip in it.

I didn't buy that one I linked in the end. I bought a 5600mAh Anker battery from Amazon. It said i9500 too but it fit my i9505 fine. As for thickness I don't have a ruler handy right now but I just picked up a Nexus 10 yesterday so I'm able to photograph the S4 as a whole.

Its pretty chunky, thankfully I have huge hands and this make it feel even better in the hand.

oh my, it looks like a slug. No battery is worth that look and feel IMO.

To each their own. For me it looks no different unless I lay my head down on the desk and look at it side on, for normal use all I see is still just the front. It still feels comfortable in the hand, isn't that much heavier and still easily fits in the pocket.

In this case for me, the trade-offs for a thicker phone are well worth the battery life, which has more than doubled.

Good battery life this weekend, I only used it for 5 hours 45 spread over the 3 days but I think it's rather good. It would have been even better but for some reason Maps used a lot of juice when I hadnt even used any GPS apps.

It is not so much GPS as location services. That can be a drain to varying degrees (excluding activation of GPS).
