I got my S6 Edge about a week ago and love it so far. Only problem is there is no way I'm getting a 50% charge in 30 minutes like advertised. I'm using the charger out of the box... so what am I doing wrong? As it stands, it charges pretty similarly to my 6+.

I'm on T-Mobile, if that matters..........

Amazing. Its always a pleasant surprise to look at it like 20 minutes and see the device having 50% plus charge. You just feel you can get to a safer number faster. Its really great.

Last night, I ran the battery down until the phone died. I plugged it up and powered it on. After about 45 minutes, it was in the 30s percent-wise........

I think the key part here is you ran it until it died. Did you really run it down until the phone shut off? There might be processes running in the background after doing that. Maybe the phone is running diagnostic or internal something first before it starts to charge again?
Not sure. Try running it down to say 12% then hook it up and see what happens.

Were you using it while it was on? If you were physically using the device whilst charging it will charge slower. Charging claims are actually made about a device physically turned off. It charges fastest in this instance. With device on but in standby it charges slightly slower and charges a lot slower if the device is being used whilst charging.

Anyone know any quick chargers for cars? I heard a 2.1 Amp charger would get the job done?

That's not really a quick charger. Isn't the stock Sammy brick 2 amps anyways? It will charge at the same rate. I've seen higher AMP chargers on Amazon, but I wonder if it's any good for long term battery health

Bingo. Phone needs to be off. On my iPhone, I noticed how it charges up so much faster, even in airplane mode.

My cousin and I had this discussion with the S6. He feels that it will hurt the battery long term with the fast charge. Samsung says people get a full year to replace the battery if there are any problems if it has 80% or less of full original capacity. I also have T-Mobile insurance for problems with and without warranty related issues. I notice if my screen is on full brightness and is always on, quick charge isn't noticeably there.

Know any cheap Amazon ones I can get w/ Quick Charge?

Don't know if this qualifies as cheap but I have this one that quick charges as advertised for my Moto X. Useful because the other adaptive ports allow the wife to charge her iPhone at the same time. Highly recommend having quick charge capability in your car.

$22 is too much. Thanks though. Looking for $10.

How about wire less chargers? Anybody have good ones to recommend? I'm looking at the tvlt chargers. They're expensive though.

You can pick them up for a $10-15 on eBay. But like the wiseman always say - you get what you pay for. Pays your money - take your chances.

If you have amazon prime or an amazon account

As soon as I got my QI wireless charger, I quit plugging in to fast charge. I let it charge up overnight and that's been enough to get me through a full day lately. :)

Woah! THe bamboo one of the second link looks really nice. Do you have personal especience with that unit? Is it easy to "connect"? I've read stories that it's hard to find the "right spot" to let the charging connect sometimes.

I would prefer something like TLVT's thing here where it's more of a stand, but it's so damn expensive:

Thanks. I think what happened is that I increased the screen timeout from 30 seconds or whatever up to 10 minutes when I first got the phone, because the screen would timeout and all of my data transfers would pause. It was annoying.

I must've left the screen on, and since I pretty much turned the timeout feature off, that makes sense as to why it wouldn't quick charge. I'll do a test tonight. Thanks!

It always surprises me when it's done charging up to 100%. It happens so fast.

Fast charging is awesome so far. Just charging for 15 minutes keeps me in the fight for like an hour or so of normal use.

At home I use the wireless charger more than the turbo charger usually.

I don't run the battery below 10% now the first few cycles are done. Tends to take 60 minutes from around 10% to near-full.

This is with the phone asleep - it's a bit inconvenient having to toggle airplane mode or turn it off and miss calls/messages if charging during the day.

Must say it turned out to be a feature I really like. Other phones seem to take an age by comparison now. I'll pick up an extra fast charger for work if need be. Battery replacement time and cost seems reasonable if it doesn't last until I next change phones.
