Was it on auto or a low brightness setting? I usually get close to 6 hrs on max brightness.

Mt G7 Edge started out great but now the battery is draining fast. I was afraid of this happening. This is why I went back to an iPhone years ago. I can go on it with a fresh 100% charge and literally within a minute of screen on time it's to 98%, a few minutes and 96 and so on. The last time I checked the battery usage it estimated less then 2 hours of SOT. If I play a game or watch a video, it's even worse with draining. Any ideas? I really love the phone/Gear 2 Watch, Gear VR and I don't want to have to return them. Thanks!

Have you gone into your battery savings and checked what is using up your battery? Also, check data usage to see if an app has gone crazy with data. That happened to me a couple months ago with Gmail downloading a couple gbs of data.

Also, do you have app power saving mode enabled? What it does is that it puts any app that you haven't used in 3 days into hibernation mode.

It's hard to give you any ideas until you post a screenshot of your battery use to see what apps or services are causing issues and draining the most. So start there and hopefully an answer can be found!

Pretty impressed with mine as well. I also ordered a big box of rapid chargers for all my vehicles, work, bedroom etc. Even if I ever do get close to draining it 20 minutes on the charger, and a have hours more juice.

To the guy having rapid draining. Download package disabler pro, and delete facebook app

I have both Facebook and Facebook messenger installed and get stellar battery life. I think Facebook gets blamed too much sometimes.

I have Facebook app enabled but I haven't used it. Battery life is still excellent. I don't see it in my battery details, and doesn't seem to use background CPU.

I don't think it's because of they improved the Facebook app. It seems like Smart Manager's app power saving is working well.

Well, I think over the years Facebook has improved their app quite a bit just as most others have done and as the devices themselves have marched forward. But first impressions from years ago are hard to shake even when a company improves and fixes things later.

Just disabling Facebook has seriously improved my battery life. It wasn't reflected in the battery menu, but all things being equal my battery life is markedly better. I have no proof but I think FB masks battery usage somehow in the Android OS process. Probably due to excessive location queries.

Not when it comes to background usage affect on battery life. I had Facebook enabled on the S6 due to the Gear VR. It wasn't until an update that included the Samsung's smart manager that I noticed Facebook having almost no affect on battery life.

I love the battery life on my S7 Edge BUT there are still times when the battery will randomly start draining like 20-30% in just an hour or so of it doing nothing but sitting here. Every Android phone I have ever owned has done this occasionally.

Yeah that has happened to me too. But not so much on my Mate 8. Huawei has a very progressive battery optimization software builtin to the Android skin that warns and kills rogue apps. Then will do it automatically if you want it to.

There are times when I will take my Note 5 off the charger with NO apps open or recently used at all and it will start doing that rapid discharging, like 10% in an hour. I'll reboot the phone, out it back on the charger to top it off and still with no recents open, it will then stay at 100% for a few hours. There are times I leave it home and bring my S7 Edge with me and after 9 hours, the battery is only as 97% on that phone. I don't understand how having cleared any recent can still make the battery drain super fast.

I get anywhere between 5 and 6 hours on my Snapdragon Galaxy S7 Edge, but I don't really watch any videos and I'm almost always on LTE.

Similar to my S7e exynos. I suspect those getting more are either not using cellular or keep screen brightness adjusted much lower than i would like.

That's good to hear. Well, for me at least. I was a little jealous when I heard the Exynos Galaxy S7 got better battery life than the Snapdragon versions, but I doubt it's a major difference in actual usage.
