Hello! I have a s7 Titanium apple watch and it's been working super nicely. Have had it since Nov 2021. Recently though, say for the last few weeks, i've noticed the heart rate sensor is just a bit "off". I find that in workouts, like runs, it takes about 5 min for it to get a reading which never happened before and it's happened repeatedly now.
I notice the heart rate seems lower than it should be in certain workouts.

generally just seems less accurate and slower. Has anyone noticed this? I tried wiping the watch. I used an alcohol wipe just now so hopefully that will help. In the past when this happens, i've just wiped it and it's fixed but it just seems it's not getting fixed.

I have applecare on the watch but i'm wondering if this is an issue and if this has happened to anyone. has apple helped?

thanks!

Have you done a shut off and then a restart? My series 8 had a similar issue with some of the functions were lagging after an update and I did the shut down and restart and it is working fine now.

I would do what mike said and also fiddle around with how tight you wear it. I had an s7 before my ultra and i had heart rate issues with both whenever I had it too tight. The Sport band was always either too tight or too loose for me so i use the velcro sport loop now and have no issues.

thanks for the replies - that's helpful! i have not done a shutdown/restart - so let me do that. I have tried changing the strap, making it tighter/looser and that hasn't helped but i suspect the restart should!

thank you!

Every Apple Watch that I have owned has occasionally lost heart rate during workouts. I simple readjust and it starts again. I also have the S7 SBTi and love it but it does the same thing. I occasionally will temporarily change the Watch to the other wrist. As far as accuracy, it matches both my blood pressure device and treadmill.

Agree - same experience for me. And a quick wipe helps it. However this was consistent and kept happening. That being said, after a restart it SEEMS ok. I haven't run since but on a walk there was no issue! So thank you for all of the options provided here.
