So my 5th gen ipod crashed yesterday. It was fully charged and within ten minutes had zero battery left and a little sad faced ipod came on the screen with the support website underneath. When I plug it in to either my macbookpro or wall charger the screen alternates between the apple startup logo, a low battery warning, and the little sad face. Also my computer does not recognize it when I plug it in.

I have come to terms with the fact that I'll probably need a new ipod, but I'm wondering if there is any possible way to recover the music or somehow salvage what is now a paperweight?

Thanks for your help

It varies from iPod to iPod I think but you might be able to enter disk mode. Charge it up for as long as you can (just incase?), as its booting up hold the centre button and play (or might be left or right, check up on google for your specific iPod model) and that should load up disk mode. It just acts like an external drive. Copy everything across, maybe do a format and see if that helps.
