first of all, what have they done to the os -.- I have a brand new mbp i purchased a week ago. Just installed ML and it is ALOT slower than Lion. Safari may be a little smoother, but that doesnt make up for the fact that it is not displaying thing right. Take a look at http://www.InspiredStudios.co.uk and look at the navigation bar on the left. This problem was not there on the last safari update. Also the dock looks ugly too and i cant change it because none of the docks have updated yet -.-, so far my apple experience has not been what it hougth it would be. So far PC > Mac, my Vaio Z Series > mbp! So far... lol

Your speed problems might come from Mountain Lion indexing your files. I was thinking the same thing after updating from Snow Leopard this morning, but now it is doing just fine.

In fact, I think it seems snappier than Snow Leopard, but that could all be in my head. :D

EDIT: I don't see anything wrong with the linked site's navigation bar running Safari 6.0

Snappier than SL? Did you clean install?
