Senior Tech told me that no matter what settings you decide in Safari Preferences, Safari 11 WILL NOT play gifs. Apple is working on an update. To play gifs, download and play in Finder column view or other apps.

Possibly an isolated problem? I for one am not having any problems.

I assume you mean animated GIFS, but it works fine here.

BTW, it's amazing how much system resources GIFs can take. I have my Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz machine here with Safari 11 and I went to giphy.com which is a page full of animated GIFs, and my system is using up to about 98% (out of a 100%) CPU usage. 80% of that is that webpage alone.

Must be just me. Oh well. I don't understand. Maybe I have some pref obstructing play at Reddit. Safari prefs are All ON for play and ALL ON for Flash plugins.
[doublepost=1506055499][/doublepost]Gulp, Content Blocking was ON for Reddit. Ain't like watching TV, where you just turn it on and watch. After 20 years using a Mac. I'll shut up now.

Your "Senior Tech" is an idiot, you should do all you can to ensure he takes a spot in an unemployment line as expediently as possible.

OS X has been dreadful with gifs since day 1, unfortunately.

You are not alone (contrary to other comments.). GIFs will not play for me in ANY app, including Firefox, Xee and Preview. When I view the files on my iPhone SE, no problem!
