Safari 12 ships with iOS 12 and macOS 10.14. It is also available for macOS 10.13.6 and 10.12.6.

Same here. I've no intention of retiring my 2,1!
If you're worried about the latest browsers then the third-party vendors will keep supporting El Capitan for at least the next couple of years. Chrome, Firefox - I use Opera myself, and it's great. Chrome-based. Seems that Safari 11.2 is the last browser update for El Capitan from Apple but the third-party vendors will go for a while yet!
