Ok, this issue has been bothering me since I updated Safari to Version 14 before Big Sur came out.

Every time I select lines of text on any webpage and click on the small gray box with a downward arrow (as shown in the attached screenshot), the page just reload with the error message "This webpage was reloaded because an error occurred".

It is really annoying because I always accidentally click on that damned small gray box and cause the page to reload.

Is it because of some Safari extensions? I am running Safari 14.0.1 on a 2016 MBP w/ TB with Big Sur 11.0.1 installed.

I had the same issue on Big Sur and now have it on Catalina (10.15.7) w/ Safari 14.1. It's been around for months!

Were you able to figure out the cause or a fix?

I almost forgot this post I made. Thanks for your reply.

So I just made a test and can confirm this problem is indeed caused by an extension. All I did was disabling Fantastical's Actions extension in System Preferences-> Extensions -> Added Extensions, and voila, the small gray box is gone! No more accidental reloads.

Even if you don't use Fantastical, I would suggest you try to disable some extensions and see which one is the trouble maker.
