On multiple websites, the cursor's visible position doesn't match where it's actual location is. In other words, I'll move the cursor to a link and the link doesn't highlight and it's not clickable. Sometimes if I move the cursor around above the link, it will highlight and I can click on it even though the cursor shows it being elsewhere on the web page. This happens on an M1 Mac mini running Sonoma and also on a 2015 iMac running Monterey.

I just found this post, but I want to say that it’s not just you. This is happening on an M2 MacBook Pro, and I’ve recorded several videos where I actually need to move the pointer well below the actual position of the link that I want to click

The dangerous thing about this is that it has caused me to click the wrong link several times, once leading me to a website filled with pop-up ads and (hopefully not)malware.

Do you have any extensions in Safari? Ad-blockers can alter the layout of pages.

That was my first thought as well. I tested with no active extensions and different profiles-- same result.
Although the pointer coordinates on the screen should always be correct, even if a page is rendered differently, I think.

are the problem pages at 100% zoom? is the monitor resolution the default? you could try changing that, then change it back to what you want. also, try playing with some of the accessibility options in system settings. as always, try a reboot as well...

Can you share some pages where that happens? I can test on MBA M1.

Good thinking... but unfortunately I just checked, and yes, pages are normal zoom. And my resolution is the default 2560 × 1600 for my 13" built-in display.

This happens most frequently on google and bing search results pages (or maybe I just notice it the most there), but I've also had it happen on youtube... where I literally couldn't exit full screen, because I couldn't click the button in the lower-right corner. It also happens on the left and right youtube sidebars, where I've clicked the wrong video a few times because of it.

The thing is, the doesn't happen all of the time. It crops up randomly, but I usually notice it after I've been using safari for a few hours, or have several tabs open.

I just tried to upload a video of it happening, but got "Oops we ran into a problem" I suppose I don't have the necessary permissions on this forum.
