Safari 18.4 can't open links in new private window

With ⌥ + right click on the link you get the option to "open link in new private window", but after 18.4 update it opens just a blank private window.
Any ideas?

It's working for me (Safari 18.4/Sequoia 15.4).
Try to clear Safari's cache from the Develop menu (https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/advanced-ibrw1075/18.0/mac/15.0) or by deleting ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/Caches.

Unfortunately, it didn't help.
I'm also tried to disable all extensions and third party apps like PopClip, BTT or anything that could affect mouse/input behavior.

For now I made BTT action, so it copies URL, opens new private window and paste+enter.

Did you ever find the culprit for this? I'm thinking it could be a bug in an extension, but I disabled them all and rebooted, and it still is opening a blank private window.

Same thing here.
Disabling extensions + rebooting doesn't help.
Tried tinkering with safari settings, like changing privacy and other things. Didn't help either.
AI doesn't help too. Looks like not a lot of people use it.

@UMadBro Just curious which extensions you have. AdGuard or Wipr? If there's a common extension, then maybe that is the cause. I have noticed that even disabling extensions sometimes doesn't completely take them out of the equation.

Nope
I have only AdGuard extension in Safari, but disabling doesn't help.
Also the latest Safari 18.5 update didn't changed anything.
Still using a BTT action as a workaround.

You're spot on. I do have an AdGuard app. Disabling it doesn't help, just like the OP.
All I can say is that after I updated my MacOS in May (it was an April update) suddenly I was unable to open links in private tabs.
I also tried creating new users in Safari. Didn't help either.

I have the same problem on my Mac Mini running Safari 18.5 on the latest Sonoma. I tested on my wife's MacBook Air and same problem exists there. Given that and other testing in above posts, likely a Safari bug.

Holding down the option key (while right-clicking on "open in a new window") seems to be working reliably for me in Safari 18.5 (running on 2024 m4 Mini)...

Fishrrman, thanks for posting that. I took the additional step of testing Safari in another user profile on my Mac Mini. Opening a link a new private window worked. So apparently it's some bug in my user profile. Will have to troubleshoot more.

I have the same issue. Can you expand on your workaround?

In "Action 2" you need to write exact context menu item, depending on your language, to copy link.
