There is a safari 9 beta today for yosemite.

It's only for developers though, not public betas.

It is also in the latest el capitan.

• Content Blocking Safari Extension APIs
• Shared Links App Extensions
• Netflix: Proper playback when starting or resuming video.
• Web Inspector Tabbed Navigation
• Web Inspector Console
• Web Inspector Type Profiling
• Web Inspector Rendering Frames Timeline
• Responsive Design Mode

OS X Yosemite

• Tab Audio Controls
• Overlay Status Bar
• Improved Password AutoFill
• Reader appearance controls
• Content Blocking Safari Extension APIs
• Netflix: Proper playback when starting or resuming video.
• Web Inspector Tabbed Navigation
• Web Inspector Console

I forgot to mention that there is a version of it for mavericks too.

Note however that there isn't a version of it for mountain lion, so maybe this is a sign on the wall that support days for mountain lion are numbered as we edge closer to public release of el capitan. Maybe after that there won't be any more safari's for mountain lion.

I used to think that it was good that the different concurrent safari versions for different systems had different version numbers.

But now all 3 safari betas for el capitan, yosemite and mavericks all have the same version number 9.0.
