Safari ad blocker that does not make deals with advertisers?

I have read that many ad blockers only block some ads because they accept money from advertisers to allow their ads to be placed. I would like an ad blocker that does not do this, I do not mind having ads display, though I don't like the idea of installing something that supposedly blocks ads and than allows certain ones to display based on payment between advertiser and app developer. My primary concern with installing one of these is to prevent ads from tracking me in any way. That to me is unacceptable.

Can anyone recommend an ad blocker that does not make deals with advertisers and also blocks anything that can be used to track web surfing?

You can try uBlock Origin (https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock) but there is no Safari version at the moment, it's still the lighest and most efficient tracker around. And best of all it hasn't struck any deals with anyone and can also block tracker cookies or sites with shady redirects.

You can only minimise the tracking, not prevent it. A combination of a tracker blocker, such as Ghostery or Disconnect, and an ad blocker will be a good start, but you have to do a lot more. To my knowledge, there is no ad blocker that shows ads solely because advertisers paid their way in. Those who do accept money, still force advertisers to adhere to certain criteria, so the result is not visible or noticeable to the end user. These blockers also let you opt out of this, so the result is not materially different. Just turn it off if it bothers you.

I personally use Adguard. It’s open-source and well-maintained for Safari.

I second the recommendation for Adguard. It is by the the best ad blocker I've ever used, and it is the best at removing the placeholders for the ads IMO. Of course, I think they switched to using Apple's native content blocking that is built into Safari 9, so it might be on an even footing with a lot of them now.
