Hello, eveyone! I just switched over to mac and I'm lovin' every minute of it.

I have been using Safari everyday, and today I opened it and now the URL address bar is gone. Maybe I clicked on something... but I can't find the settings where I can make it re-appear. Any suggestions?

Thanks! I appreciate it!

Damn i thought this was gonna be a bug thread about safari, i was gonna jokingly say, "Maybe it is in the same place as my disappearing minimize box." Since that is not what the thread is about then.......i guess this post is void and not funny.

On a similar topic...how can I clear the history of the address box? I can clear the cache, the history, google search but not the URL box. Hints?

As far as I can tell, you can reset the history of sites you have gone to, but Safari will always autofill some sort of built in list of sites in the address bar. Bugs me, but hey, what can you do...

Safari will autofill anything from the Bookmarks section (which includes inbuilt bookmarks and history). Any of these can be deleted through the Bookmarks panel (Show All Bookmarks from the Bookmark menu) if need be AFAIK. :)

I did this to get rid of the annoying inbuilt American-centric bookmarks.

Ahhh, finally! Thank you, I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of the stupid auto-autofills for ages, maybe I never considered the bookmarks because I haven't actually ever used the bookmarks feature since I got OS X.

You're right, the Bookmark bar does autofill. The other way you can add it is by going to View->Customize Address Bar... and you can add or remove icons.

It's pretty damn hot at the moment so I could be wrong but I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. I'm saying you can delete the inbuilt bookmarks to remove them from the list of URLs that autofill (if that can be a verb) in Safari whereas you're talking about adding a button to the Address Bar which, when pressed, can add new bookmarks. :)

I'm so sorry I mixed up what I was saying with something else:
1 - The Bookmark bar does do the autofil

2 - Another way to get the address bar back is to go to View->Customize Address Bar...

I'm so sorry.
