If I search for an item to purchase in Safari, it pops up in ads on Tapatalk while scrolling this app.

Today’s example, I looked at a hoodie on Safari, I clicked on a link, that opened up the Amazon app and showed the listing for the hoodie.

A couple of hours later, I’m scrolling through MacRumors and that same hoodie is listed in between posts. In the past, I’ve wondered if these instances were a coincidence but all doubt in my mind has been removed. This item was too specific.

For Safari, I’ve used DuckDuckGo for years, which is supposed to be private.

Does anyone know where the weak link is here? Are there settings to prevent this? These were all iOS apps on an iPhone.

Trackers, they are everywhere basically.

Are you using any content/ad blockers (in Safari)?

I’m not. I’ve tried them in the past but they could be troublesome with comments sections and other functions. Is there one you recommend?

There are a variety of free ones that can be worth trying (some with more controls for what they block), for example, Firefox Focus, Norton Ad Blocker, BlockBear, Ka-Block!, and Ad Guard.
