Well, I to hate to say this, as much as I really don't like Edge (even on Windows) I am really thinking about ditching Safari and to install Edge.

At least Edge has a built-in Ad and Tracking blocking which you can select the Strict option.
Safari doesn't even have these settings.

Anyone else runs Edge on their MacOS?

If so, how is t running? Any stability issues? Does it have any major effects on system resources?

I am running on MacBook Pro M1.

Safari has tracking prevention and a couple options for it.

As for ads I use AdGuard and it’s really good. Can be gotten on the App Store.

If you’re getting constant pop up ads though there’s a chance you’ve installed an adware extension by mistake.

it’s really the Ads in Safari that bugs me.

On iOS, it’s not really that bad.

But on MacOS, it’s worse.

Then either you visit pages that base their ads on the UserAgentString, or you have a malicious extension installed on your Mac that adds in more ads. As mentioned, I generally use AdGuard so see no ads in Safari, but even when I disable it, there's not too many ads out there that are disturbing to the primary content like pop-up ads would be. That said, geolocation can also impact that

ny somewhere
another vote for adblock for safari. and you can turn off pop-up windows (try in the safari menu bar; the gear icon:

'enable content blockers' (with adguard installed first), and 'pop-up windows: block'. i haven't seen (most) ads in years...

there
On Safari, I had 14 consecutive pop ups that leaped in a new tab (safari blocked the content with grey text)
on a sports streaming site which took many CMD_W instead of that one.

then Chelsea scored 3 goals, instead of that one.
then the video struggle to stream.....so I turned that off.
this is my fault and the sports betting site fault, not safari.

last week I switched to a screen time setting were I have a restricted-strict search, that also
blocked any amazon.com pages from hidden links and those
aname porn game pop ups from several sites
that stream videos of the truth in our world.
this seemed to work,
but I could not empty my history so I went back to normal safe search allow anything
and wil rad more books and stay off "teh internets"

the main point of this message is to claim that safari is not at fault,
the users needs to proceed with caution, as I need to do.

How about those extremely rich football clubs in England?
KDB and now Haaaaland are back but 'pool looks strong, and the gunners are scoring
I guess I will watch only what is on PeacockTV and read about the rest....
these media need there more money so to watch these matches one needs
cabletv, a monthly streaming serve and more time than a Rolex factory worker.

this is my second point, Big money is getting bigger and relentless!

see ya later today...
