Ok guys just a quick question. My macbook has been running great and all but today I've been trying to get to my hotmail account with Safari. I guess hotmail has this new windows live mail when you type in hotmail.com. Well when I type in my login and password it does all this redirecting and then comes to page can't open because of too many redirects. Is anyone else having this problem with hotmail????? Do I have a virus??????

What version of Safari are you running on? Do you have any third party plugins for Safari? No, you don't have a virus.

I have safari 2.04. I don't think I have any other plugins. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this problem with hotmail. Could be just hotmail but I'm not sure.

Works for me, but doesn't seem Windows Live-y, but just like regular hotmail unfortunately...

Crap I don't know how I got this windows live crap. I mean I used the hotmail earlier in the day and it didn't have it now I go to this windows live thing. I even deleted cookies reset and clear cache. Anyone else know what else to do???

Hmmm maybe it's my internet over here. I tried to get onto hotmail with my PSP and it's not loading either. I don't know whats going on.

Who still uses Hotmail!?

Do you want a GMail invite? I will send you one just so you don't have to use Hotmail. Hotmail is so 1998. D:

Its a pity everyone here uses MSN, otherwise I would dump Hotmail in a flash...

haha yeah. Well now it looks like I can't even go to the hotmail web page. Before I could go to it but after I logged in it went to that too many direct site. Now it goes to it out right. Ahhhhhhh driving me nuts lol.

If you use the Mail plugin httpmail or install MacFreepops, you can get hotmail into Mail and never have to login via a browser.

I don't even have mail on my macbook any more. I deleted all that stuff that I figured I wouldn't really use.

I've seen this circle before.

There are a couple of circumstances that I've had cause this:

1) Using Microsoft / Windows Messenger on my Mac. I'd often have to reset Safari after using Windows Messenger in order to get the hotmail page to load properly in Safari again.

2) When I've logged-out of hotmail, and then wanted to go back in. I would have to reset Safari to get it to work.

3) When I upgraded from hotmail to the Windows Live hotmail version. I couldn't get the update to work because of some code in their system that required me to use Windows IE 6 or later. So, I was going in circles trying to get the update to the new hotmail version (which has more capacity, and other nice features). I finally just booted the PC with Windows and upgraded the hotmail account in Internet Explorer for Windows. After that, I could log-in fine with Safari on the Mac.

Generally, the first thing I would try is resetting Safari (under the Safari menu). Then, see if hotmail will open properly for you.

Oh I have done that several times and it still goes back to that windows live hotmail version. I mean before tonight I always got that old hotmail login page. Now when I go to hotmail it takes me to that windows live page. So I don't know what is the deal.

Ok now I'm able to get into hotmail. Maybe something was wrong on their end. But now I have the windows live version which I didn't even want. Good ole crappy microsoft.

Glad to hear it's working now.

I actually prefer the Windows Live version. But, perhaps that's because I had to use a Microsoft Exchange version of Webmail for work. That very closely resembles the Windows Live version of Hotmail. So, I was finally able to remember where everything was when I was in each place.

I am running 2.0.4 and I havn't been able to use Hotmail for about a day now. It just keeps switching between hotmail and live urls in the browser.

I've been having issues with the new live mail as well. It's just them most of the time. Works ok with FireFox, but it still keep changing the order of messages. I like to have it in ascending order with the new mail at the bottom. Apparently they prefer descending with it at the top. There will be a fix once it comes out of beta, but I don't know if you can even change it back to the old way once it's set as the new way.

If you're using Safari and don't have any plugins, download the beta. It's so much better. I use FF most of the time, but the beta is really nice and completely stable for me for most sites.

This issue suddenly cropped up overnight with me, too. I downloaded the new (beta) Safari 3 and still no luck. I can't access Hotmail via Firefox either (I get a similar redirection problem message). everything was working fine with the old Hotmail, but as soon as they switched to Windows Live, I got shut out. I have an msn.com account, so can retreive e-mail through Entouage, but to delete messages, you have to go to Hotmail... Reloading, rejecting cookies - nothing works. Anyone any other ideas?
