2 problems today kiddies, so get them thinking caps on! :)

1) Safari: Everytime I try and upload a picture (or anything, really) to MR, MySpace, ImageShack, Hotmail - I get the error screen.

[Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “http://att.macrumors.com/newattachment.php”. The error was: “POSIX error: Invalid argument” (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:22) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.]

2) Mail won't send attachments with GMail. I keep getting a returned message, from the Mail Del. Sys. that the address was not recognised.

..Thanks in advance, to anyone who helps.

And that is why I don't use either Safari, or Mail.

For a web browser- use Camino. It's basically Firefox ported for Mac.

For a mail program- (don't take my word 100% for it) try Thunderbird. I've had good results on it, but nowadays, I just prefer going on Camino and going through gmail.com for checking and sending emails.

Why use a ported version? Why not just use Firefox itself?

I've run into that problem myself a few times with my G5. I use to think it's my G5 or I'd reboot... still happens... i did everything... til i gave up.... i finally realized though that something in the webpage scripts was not running properly...but when i tried the next day, things went smooth as a boat on calm water.

Have you tried resetting Safari (Safari menu)? I'm not sure about the Mail problem but would be interested to hear how Thunderbird goes if you try it. :)

Yeah Jewy, I've tried that. Nothing. :(

Thing is, Safari always used to work - and I want to continue using it. I'm not being rude to the people who replied, but I want a fix, not jump ship to another app.

Its so annoying, everytime I want to upload something, I have to open a totally new browser, one which I feel isn't as nice as Safari. (Can't wait for Shiira 2.0!)

Have you seen whether it works properly in a new user account? Have you made any changes to it recently? Installed any apps or add ons? :)

I installed Onyx, and selected an option to make Safari pages load faster - which they don't. So, I turned it off.

I've not had these problems with my powerbook running 10.4.7 with either Safari or Mail, so ignore those people telling you to abandon ship, because it's not necessary. As to the specific fix, I'd say to reset Safari as mad jew said. For Mail, does the success of sending an attachment depend on its size? I use gmail to send mail attachments quite often, and I've never seen this problem.

I've reset Safari, nothing. I'm just returning everything to its default and uninstalling Onyx - see if that helps.

As for Mail, it doesnt even sent -kb files, nevermind -mb. I thought it was a problem with the recipient, but then last night it did it with some photos.

After removing Onyx (well, disabling its Safari-features) - I can now upload things.

Yabbadabbadoooo! (For use of a better word)

Now I need me mail working.. Thanks all!

That's good to hear :)

For mail, can you send messages via gmail if there are no attachments? Also, try sending a message to yourself with an attachment.

I'd still try the second user account as well.

Yes and yes.

Weird. The 3 times its done it were once to a business e-mail, who I'm doing a website for (my Dads boss) - their website wouldn't work either, and I think the email uses that server, so that could be why.

But the 2nd and 3rd times it happened, were to Hotmail accounts, so I assume they should work.

Just emailed myself from GMail to Y! and it worked fine, with an attach.

Well, at least you can be happy that it's not your problem any more :D . Sounds like something is fishy with your recipients' server, and not anything that you are doing. I find this is often the case when people report problems with Mail; the blame instantly falls on the app with people saying 'change to firefox, outlook, eudora, etc., etc.' rather than the real culprit. Anyways, I'm glad you've got it sorted.
